Keen Boot not for those seeking comfort
I work in construction so I pretty much wear work boots 12 hours a day generally without any serious comfort issues. I do a lot of walking on the site I’m currently on so I was looking for something lighter than the Timberland boots I was wearing. I purchased the Keens online so I didn’t get to try them on first. The fit is on the wide side but length was good. They seem well made from a durability standpoint. There are a few problem areas though. The top of the tongue bunches up and ends up outside of the boot no matter how tight you make the laces - it can be uncomfortable. The boots do not breathe - they run on the hot side not for summer. My feet sweat a lot in these which is unusual for me. The toe box is huge but where the bottom of the tongue connects it rubs against the outer toes causing discomfort after a few hours of wear. The way the boot is cut on the outside of the ankle allows it to rub on the ankle which can be uncomfortable after a few hours of wear. I also wore these on a hike in PA up at Worlds End to break them in more and check out the waterproofing which doesn’t seem to be an issue for the limited amount of water we encountered. I’ve worked in construction for 30 years so I’ve been wearing boots most of my life. Because of the aforementioned comfort issues with these boots (which seem to be design flaws) I can not recommend them they are deal breakers for boots in this price range.
